Takaya: the wolf that waits

Callum McCabe & Nature Atlas Films

Takaya is the most unique wolf in the world. He lives alone on a small chain of islands 2km out to sea. No one knows how he got there or why he's stayed for seven years, but he's thriving on a diet of seals and fish. Local Cheryl Alexander has been captivated by Takaya and spends her days on the islands looking for him. Her knowledge of Takaya and the islands are second to none and through the years they've formed a remarkable bond of trust and companionship. But Cheryl knows this isn't enough for Takaya, whose lonesome, mournful howls echo across the Salish Sea, calling for a mate.
